Liturgical Worship & Spirituality Commission

THE LITURGICAL WORSHIP AND SPIRITUALITY COMMISSION, led by Parish Council Commissioner Rudi Lanehart, is charged with advising the pastor in the area of the Church’s public worship by providing a forum for communication among the various liturgical ministries and offers overall support and guidance in the area of worship.

“In the liturgy the sanctification of the man is signified by signs perceptible to the senses, and is effected in a way which corresponds with each of these signs; in the liturgy the whole public worship is performed by the Mystical Body of Jesus Christ, that is, by the Head and His members.” (Sacrosanctam Concilium, n. 7)

Adoration of Blessed Sacrament takes place on Fridays following the 9:00 a.m. Mass until 4:00 p.m. Parishioners are needed to maintain our vigil of silent prayer. Contact Peter Uwechue.

Adult Choir rehearses Wednesday evenings and sings at the 10:00 a.m. Sunday Mass. Bring a love for music and a desire to experience new friendships and spiritual growth. Contact John Brandt.

Altar Servers are young men and women grade four and older who assist the ordained ministers by leading processions, bearing ritual books and serving the altar with dignity and grace. Contact Kathy Donnelly.

Art & Environment Team members create the visual expression of our liturgical celebrations. Parishioners with creative ideas join those with hands-on skills. Helping hands are always needed. Contact Robin Ramsey.

Audio/Visual Technicians operate the state-of-the-art sound and video equipment in our church, ensuring that our worship is seen and heard clearly by all. Contact Tom Galucki.

Cantors lead the assembly in the sung responses and other music at mass and other liturgical celebrations. Contact John Brandt.

Charismatic Prayer group gathers weekly to praise the Lord as the Holy Spirit moves them. All are welcome. Contact Bernadette Okafor .

The Cherub Choir, for children 4 years old through 1st grade, rehearses on Wednesdays from September through May. Children learn about sound, instruments, and social interaction. Contact John Brandt.

Children’s Choir, comprised of young people in grades 2 to 8, rehearses on Wednesdays and serves monthly at the Sunday 12:00 p.m. Mass. Contact John Brandt.

The Contemporary Choir leads the congregation’s song at the Sunday evening 5:00 p.m. Mass. Singers and instrumentalists, young and old welcome. Rehearsals are held on Sundays at 4:00 p.m. Contact Andrea Drath.

Divine Mercy Prayer Group  meets regularly to pray the Divine Mercy prayer chaplet together. Contact Ethel Foster.

Eucharistic Ministers are commissioned by the Archdiocese upon completion of a training workshop. They bring the Body and Blood of our Lord to the parish community at the celebration of Mass. Contact Robin Ramsey.

Family Choir, open especially to those who cannot commit to weekly practice, rehearses on Wednesdays and serves twice a month; at the Saturday 5:00 p.m. Mass and at the Sunday 8:00 a.m. Mass. Contact John Brandt.

Haitian Charismatic Prayer Ministry gathers Haitians and other Franco-phones for charismatic prayer. Contact Jocelyne Labossiere, at 770.674.4562.

Homebound/GMC EM’s are commissioned Eucharistic Ministers who bring the Eucharist to the sick in hospitals and in homes. Contact Pete Ranft.

Instrumentalists help support the assembly’s sung prayer with the color and texture of strings, horns, and keyboards. Contact John Brandt.

Lectors receive training and support so that God’s Word is not just read, but proclaimed in our worship. Men and women with clear spoken English, willing to prepare and rehearse their readings, are welcome. Contact Brad and Kris Willard.

Martha’s Minions ensure the cleanliness of the sanctuary, altar linens and liturgical appointments, conducting their work in a spirit of prayer and service. Contact Ellie Hubbard.

Resurrection Choir leads the sung prayer at parish funeral liturgies. Daytime availability is needed, along with the ability to respond on one or two days’ notice. Contact John Brandt.

Sacristans prepare the church and altar for Mass at all liturgies and coordinate the service of the other liturgical ministers. Contact Robin Ramsey.

Ushers have a willingness to greet and welcome worshipers at Sunday Mass and care for the comfort and order of the church environment. Contact Roger Turner.

Wedding Coordinators offer assistance to couples preparing for a wedding–meeting with the couple for planning, leading the rehearsal and assisting at the wedding. Contact Loretta Graves.
