At the intersection of faith belief and life experiences is Christ. Your relationship with him colors all you do, all you are and will be… eternally. The ultimate goal of any faith formation is a deeper intimacy with God but not in an abstract way. The prophet Micah reveals the simple truth that is at the heart of our Catholic faith and that is to “live justly, love mercy and walk humbly with your God.” What that entails for each person is part of the ongoing discernment that faith formation can help with. St. Paul wrote how his own faith matured over time when in First Corinthians he recalls how he used to talk and think as a child. He also pointed out that the fullness of revelation was not to be had in this life so no one should think that they know enough and have no need to “be transformed by the renewing of their mind” (Rom 12:2). Thanks to modern technology formation opportunities are literally at your finger tips and only a click away. However, nothing replaces face to face encounters for as Jesus promised “wherever two or more are gathered in my name there am I in their midst.” As your sister in Christ I encourage you to ‘grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ’. If not here at St. Lawrence, then wherever and however you can for the sake of your soul, the world and love of God.
